love thy neighbor?! how little can we fathom of what Jesus is teaching us about who our neighbors are. in Galatians 5:14 we’re told “… ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” (NIV).

how often we fail to help the most innocent man or woman who is need of help. there’s a story from Dr. James Dobson’s book ‘Night Light’; where his Uncle Willis Dobson is walking home in the cold of winter and comes across a homeless man and give’s his coat to him (his son, Bill, asked ‘why did you do that, that’s a brand new coat’); and his simple reply ‘cause i have another coat at home, and he has none’. what a great example of loving someone as yourself and such a great selfless act of humbling oneself to another’s need.

remember today, as you do unto others, they tend to do unto you. isn’t it time we reach out to those in need…

how often today do we become lazy in the sight of God? how often we complain and continue with excuse as to why we can’t do what He’s called us to – bearing witness of His name.

being committed is more than saying, yes i will or one day i’m going to… Hebrews 6:12 says.. “we do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” remember that today is the day of Salvation and that we are not promised tomorrow. build up the storehouse of God’s kingdom… there’s a co-worker, a friend, a stranger who needs to hear about Him today! trust in His promise that by the leading of His Spirit; He’ll give you the words to say…

continually pray and dedicate your time, talent and treasures to completing God’s work… isn’t it time for us to be about our Father’s business too.

do you ever find yourself giving into the desires and comforts of what the world has to offer? it takes just a moment of acting out a thought to be snatched away from that which God commands us. if we give into temptation and follow a pattern set by the world standard, how are we to become stronger together in Christ.

Romans 12:2 reminds us “do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

so how does one renew their mind? renew your spirit daily by indulging in God’s Word and coming to Him daily in prayer. God longs to hear from each of us and have a personal relationship with us. we should all be ready to stand and give an account for all things that is and will be in Christ Jesus. isn’t it time we let Him build us and quit relying on ourself.

think before you speak? truly listen before you act!

this reminder of James 1:19 “everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry...”

it’s a hard concept and lesson to learn or to apply to ones life… some of us may never learn how to practice this act of humbleness. we never face trials or tribulation alone. be open to hear others words of encouragement or criticism.

the point is, to often we may make a rational conclusion as to what is going on or about someone else’s view on things before thinking out what they may have had to say. God encourages us to be still in those moments, seeking Him out in all things. pray and continually seek out His direction in all things… and He’ll be faithful to give you the words or actions you must take to fulfill His will.

stressed? it’s often hard to comprehend all the struggles that we face… finances, job, life in general…

let your joy and peace be found in Christ (Psalm 94:19)
When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul

God wants you to place all your anxiety and problems upon Him (1 Peter 5:7)… that is where we find true peace.
Cast all your anxiety on him because He cares for you

the truth is that to often we come to the altar in prayer and we allow God for just a moment to take over – but at the end we put a chain around those feelings, hurts and stress and as we leave that place of comfort; we end up dragging our problems back out the door with us… trust God to continue handling your situation. don’t you think it’s about time for you to let go and let God!

do you ever notice how often we speak about being burned out – continually be living in Christ – choosing not to is like saying, i’ve had enough of you today God and the past few weeks; so now i need me time…

but what if God all of a sudden said that He’s too burned out for you… that He needs His me time… (He who justly deserves it)

when times get hard we need to remember that God never gives any of us more than we can handle (1 Corinthians 10:13, Philippians 4:13, 2 Peter 1:3-4) – too often we depend on our own abilities and strengths to make it through daily or weekly life. don’t you think it’s about time you surrender yourself and let God handle things…

it's hard to imagine how we get caught up in our daily life and forget to say anything or even pass a thought on what God has already given us this day: breath, life, and the chance to reach out to someone who doesn't know Christ, but we do, do this very thing.

remember this... it's hard to grow in your relationship with Christ... when you're ignoring the point to begin with.

how do we grow in Christ...?

get involved. your church family needs you more than you know. there are many things that we can do to grow spiritually. humbling oneself to serve another is a great act of humblness and helps to realize that life isn't all about you and what you want, but more about what God wants for you. to know Him more intimately and personally. get involved in a study with several other Christians who are seeking to grow as well; brothers and sisters in Christ need each other to mature spiritually.
